Sandy Lane Primary School

School Council

School Council

Are you –  honest?  reliable? sensible? committed? kind? confident? smart?  have good ideas? able to listen? have a good memory? calm? and cheerful?

If you think you have these qualities then maybe you are just the person that the School Council needs!

Keep a look out for dates and details over the next few weeks.

School Counsellors will be elected by end of September 2023. The council is made up of two representatives from each class (years 1 – 6).

Children are nominated and voted for by the children in their class and attend weekly meetings with Mrs L Walker and Ms C Rodgers who monitor the School Council.

The children have a very important job and are the voice of the children in school.  Through their work we have been able to raise lots of money for the school and various charities.

Some of the charities we have supported over the years are: Diabetes UK, Childline, Children in Need, Comic relief, Heatbeat, Bradford City Burns Unit, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Biggest Coffee Morning for MacMillan.

The children have also supported the local community by regularly tidying up the Sandy Lane area through activities such as litter picking.

The School Council also has close links with the Local Counsellors from City Hall and are regularly invited to have a tour of City Hall which is always an exciting experience.
