We have had a wonderful half term in Jowett class doing learning lots of new and exciting things! There have been some wonderful pieces of writing from the children and some great work in maths looking at place value and addition and subtraction. In science we have been looking at plants and did our first experiment where we planted 5 beans but took away one of the things it needs to survive from each bean but one, which we used to compare the other beans to. We found that the bean that grew best was the bean that had everything and we have now planted it into a larger pot so it can grow bigger.
Mrs Sheffield has been helping us decorate our reading corner for the competition. We have made a huge tree to sit under and there is even pretend grass for the children to sit on. One of the children made some beautiful bunting to hang above the reading corner and it brought the whole look together!
Our trip to the Dale Countryside Museum
We had a fantastic time on our trip to the Dales Countryside Museum. We took part in lots of exciting activities. We looked at real Roman artifacts, we were history detectives, explored the museum and created out own mosaics.
The staff at the museum were extremely proud of the children and they said they were very enthusiastic and work extremely hard. A fabulous day!
In Jowett Class, we tried different types of smoothies. We evaluated what we liked about each one, what we would change and we gave each smoothie a rating out of 10. We are going to be planning and making our own fruit smoothie and putting together a marketing campaign for our own fruit smoothie. It will be called the ‘Fruit Apprentice!’
